A media landscape in Aotearoa that genuinely represents diverse communities, challenges harmful stereotypes, provides equitable access and platforms for all, and fosters participation and respect across society.
What Needs to Change Along the Way
- Media institutions and training providers prioritise accurate and respectful representation of minority communities
- Minority voices are meaningfully engaged, and feedback is respected and acted upon
- Communities understand media systems and the impact of representation
What We Do to Make That Happen
- Deliver webinars, symposiums, and other educational events
- Provide lectures and training in tertiary/media institutions
- Develop and promote media training programmes for community members
- Strengthen connections between media and under-represented communities
- Create educational resources about media representation and standards
- Conduct and publish research
